Cementing a Partnership

June 24, 2011

Lafarge is a company relatively unknown to me because I have never shown much of an interest in the cement making business. So how is that I learned the name of the largest cement maker in the world? As it turns out, Lafarge is extending its partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in order to “reduce the company’s greenhouse gas emissions and to help build hundreds of energy-efficient buildings.”

I have to say that I genuinely surprised and appluad Lafarge’s commitment to the environment. It gives me hope that there really are companies out there that are conscious about conserving the environment and looking at ways to protect it. May Lafarge and the WWF continue “working [successfully] together on a progressively wider array of issues” such as “greenhouse gas emissions reduction and forest restoration, to biodiversity, sustainable construction, water footprint and persistent pollutants.”
