A World Without Gorillas

March 26, 2010

Did you ever wonder what the world would be like without gorillas? The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) may find out the answer to that question in ten years.

According to National Geographic, “surges in human populations, the ape-meat trade, and logging and mining as well as the spread of the Ebola virus and other diseases” pose serious threats to the gorilla population in Central Africa.

Mankind’s recklessness may result in the loss of another species on this planet, but it’s still not too late for the DRC to act responsibly and set up protective measures to help increase the number of gorillas remaining on Earth.
