Eye of the Tiger

February 10, 2010

Ah, mankind, you sure know how to put a species on the brink of extinction. A new report from WWF claims that there are only 3,200 tigers remaining in the wild. There’s no doubt that mankind’s activities have contributed to their plight; activities in which tigers are “poisoned, trapped, snared, shot and squeezed out of their homes.”

What remains to be seen is whether tiger countries have a serious commitment in bringing the number of wild tigers back up or if it’s all nonsensical talk. One step in the serious direction would be the strict enforcement of protecting tigers. It remains to be seen if the goal set for 2022 is achieved.
