Bombing Darfur

September 19, 2008

Amnesty International has reported on the Sudanese government using Russian made airplanes “with the “UN” symbol on its wing to drop bombs on Darfur.” The Sudanese government must comply with the UN Arms Embargo Act. This is a complete violation of international humanitarian law.

Amnesty has released a report entitled “Blood at the Crossroads” in which there are “accounts of Russian and Chinese weapons used to violate human rights in Darfur.” Both China and Russia must cease providing weapons to Sudan and uphold international human law.

The genocide in Darfur has been going on far too long and must come to an end. Millions of people have been displaced while hundreds of thousands have been killed in this endless violence.
