Today is Earth Hour, which is the brain child of our friends over at the World Wide Fund for Nature. The idea behind Earth Hour is for everyone to turn off their lights for an hour starting at 8pm (local time) in order to raise awareness about reducing greenhouse emissions. It all started last year when approximately 2.2 million people in Sydney, Australia turned off their lights for an hour. According to the WWF, “If the greenhouse reduction achieved in the Sydney CBD during Earth Hour was sustained for a year, it would be equivalent to taking 48,616 cars off the road for a year.”
